The Historical Foundation

The US equity markets have more than a century of continuous price history, making them the richest subject for long-term Gann cycle analysis. The 1932 Dow Jones low — at 40.56 points — remains one of the most important reference points in all of US market history.

The S&P 500 Cycle Structure

The S&P 500 has exhibited a clearly defined 10-year cycle since its inception, with major lows approximately every decade: 1974, 1982, 2002–2003, 2009, and 2020.

Dow Jones: Long-Term Geometry

The Dow Jones Industrial Average’s entire price history can be mapped onto Gann’s Square of Nine, with major highs and lows appearing at geometrically related price levels throughout.

Current US Market Analysis

Current Gann analysis focuses on the time and price relationships from the 2009 generational low, the 2020 COVID low, and the 2022 cycle high.

Gann traded the Dow Jones and the US stock markets of his era with documented success. The geometric laws he identified in those markets have not changed. The numbers are larger; the principles are identical.
